Beginners Guide to the 7 Chakras
According to various yoga traditions, there are seven primary chakras. We will each briefly explain each chakra in turn. They are said to stretch from the pelvic floor to the top of the head along the length of the spine. Chakra, which is Sanskrit for "wheel," describes the concentrated energy points in your body. In the body, each color corresponds to a different energy point.
Learning more about these energy points may help us develop a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of who we are. So let's take a closer look at them.
Root Chakra (Muladhara)
is situated at the spine's base. It is associated with the earth element and is frequently represented as a crimson, four-petaled lotus. Stones that are connected to this chakra include Red Jasper, Onyx, Garnet, Black Tourmaline. It’s energy purpose is to support our internal stability and sense of grounding.
The affirmation for this chakra is “I AM…”
Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)
is located below the belly button, just above the pubic bone. It is related to the water element and is frequently shown as an orange lotus with six petals. The stones that are connected to this chakra are Tiger Eye and Sunstone. The energetic function is to assist us in controlling our emotions and desires so that we are not controlled by them.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)
is located in the belly, close to the stomach. It is frequently represented as a yellow triangle with an upward or downward aspect, and it is related to the fire element. Stones that are connected to this chakra are Yellow Jasper and Tiger Eye. The energetic function is to increase our personal power so that we live our lives courageously and fearlessly.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)
is located on our forehead, between our eyes. Since this chakra is regarded as existing "beyond" the natural elements, it is not connected to any particular element. Indigo is a color that represents tranquility and being at peace with yourself. Stones that are connected include Amethyst, Black Obsidian, and Labradorite.

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
is located at the top of our heads. It is frequently represented as a thousand-petalled lotus with a pinkish glow and is said to be the gateway into pure consciousness. It is not connected to any physical element (as it too is considered to be beyond the elements). The Crown Chakra is violet or white in hue. The color violet represents spirituality.
